Update on the Wanchain Cardano–BNB Bridge Incident

Midnight Foundation
Update

We are aware of the incident involving Wanchain’s Cardano–BNB bridge, in which NIGHT was stolen through Wanchain’s third-party bridge infrastructure.

We can confirm that the incident is isolated to the Wanchain bridge. It does not affect the Midnight network, Midnight’s protocol or NIGHT’s total supply. The network remains secure and continues to operate normally.

We’ve been working closely with Wanchain, exchanges and ecosystem partners to support a swift, coordinated industry response. A number of our exchange partners, including KuCoin, Kraken, Binance, Bybit, OKX, MEXC and Gate, have since taken action to restrict the movement of the stolen assets and reduce the impact of the attack. Measures taken include temporarily restricting NIGHT deposits and withdrawals, temporarily freezing accounts and addresses associated with the incident, and blocking wallets linked to the attacker.

While the Midnight network and NIGHT’s total supply remain unaffected, we take incidents of this nature seriously. The security and integrity of the Midnight ecosystem remain our highest priority, and we are continuing to work with Wanchain and our partners as the investigation progresses.

We recognise the concern this incident has caused across the community and are grateful for the patience and support shown throughout the response. We’ll continue to publish updates through our official channels as the investigation progresses.

In the meantime, please rely on information from Wanchain, participating exchanges and Midnight, and remain alert to phishing attempts, impersonation accounts and unverified information relating to the incident.
